“It may LOOK like a canvas bag, but it is a community project bursting at the seams with a whole lot of local and greater-good SWAG. Thanks to overwhelming local support we are only getting started!”
– Monika Woolsey, Founder
Hip Veggies has collaborated with twelve artists for the 2012-2013 bag series. Each limited edition design is an original creation predicated on a locally grown, seasonal fruit or vegetable, with a complete line-up of artists committed for the 2013-2014 series.
Eco-friendly, screen printed canvas bags are 16” tall x 15” wide, with a shoulder strap and open top for easy access. Bag price is $20 and includes an informational leaflet with artist information and recipes incorporating the corresponding fruit or vegetable. One-third of proceeds from each bag sale supports a local hunger relief organization selected by the artist.
Unveiling events for each bag include an artist reception and short presentation about the bag, as well as food selections that correlate to the seasonal fruit or vegetable design on the bag. Participation by other creative, food-loving members of the community is always welcome, and as a results previous unveiling events have featured live music, catered hors d’oeuvres and live painting on site.
