Gearing up for our latest fundraiser, Haboob Buster 2013!
Super excited to announce our newest fundraiser! We’ve been working with The Joy Bus, to create an additional fundraiser designed to help them do their great work delivering chef-inspired meals to homebound cancer patients.
Since the bag Christine Cassano designed for them features lemons, so does this fundraiser. And since I’m a huge fan of Arnold Palmers, the signature ingredients of this beverage, lemons and ice tea, are the inspiration for this event.
And since we know Phoenicians really, really, really love any excuse to say “Haboob”…it had to be the name of our fun.
Stretching through the official end of monsoon season, September 30, we’ve challenged local chefs, baristas, and bartenders, to create thirst quenchers, cocktails, and menu items featuring tea and lemon, with a portion of sales from their contribution being donated to The Joy Bus.
We’ll be announcing each item as it comes available and we hope you’ll participate!
Thus far, we’ve got creations coming from places like
Justin Beckett’s new Southern Rail
Liam Murtagh at Bragg Factory Diner
Sam Clark at Lo Fi Coffee
Brian Archibald from the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown
Pastry chef Tracy Dempsey
Nikki and Tanya from Greater Coffee over at CO+HOOTS
But since we’re about art as much as we are about food…we are using the Haboob Buster as an excuse to also showcase another great local artist, Jon Arvizu of Trapdoor Studio. Coincidentally, we met him when he attended the Liver Foundation Fundraiser awhile back, and sat at the table hosted by Brian Archibald of the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown. He sat in a seat where his pal Joe Ray’s Hip Veggies bag was waiting…we connected…and added another great piece of art to the Hip Veggies collection. If you’d like more information about Jon and his art, check out his website.
If you’re a chef, bartender, barista…and you’d like to participate, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or 623.486.0737.
Oh…and bartender…looks like Dr. Matt and Rob Carlmark are going to be debating this for awhile, and that is sure to work up a thirst. Please send them a couple of thirst quenchers compliments of Hip Veggies.
